The Covid-19 pandemic revealed a harsh truth: global health was hijacked by capitalist interests. Wealthy nations hoarded vaccines, striking secretive deals with pharmaceutical giants, while poorer countries—home to 84% of the world’s population—secured only 32% of supply. Public funds fueled private profits, with companies like Pfizer and Moderna earning billions. Meanwhile, intellectual property laws and nationalist policies blocked equitable access. This vaccine apartheid deepened global inequality, leaving vulnerable populations to suffer. The pandemic became a profit-driven spectacle, exposing how capitalism prioritizes wealth over life. To prevent future capture, we must confront the systemic forces that commodify survival.
